Scrap Star Stitching with Staci...and Jesse Stone

So, ever since I posted about Amber's Scrap Jar Stars they have been haunting me. And it looks like I'm not the only one! Shelly, over at Prairie Moon Quilts, whipped a couple out lickity split before I had even made my first cut! Sigh...love. I can't keep up with that girl!

Then Staci, over at The Confused Quilter, commented that she COULD be persuaded to make them and the e-mails began to fly. There wasn't even any arm twisting involved.  This was a good time for both of us and we decided we would stitch together. I'm secretly hoping some of her talent will rub off on me.

Last week we decided to meet at the cutting table and cut we did. Don't you love making the first cut in a new project?

I chose this white on white dot from Weekend Clubhouse by Swirly Girl Designs for Michael Miller for the background:

\
So pop over there to see Staci's version. She's chosen an awesome line of fabric that is just going to make me want to make one just like hers, but that happens a lot with her projects. She has a knack for putting things together.

We started with the 16-patches.
I love the way these strips look hanging from our son's armoir:

Then I loved them even more once they were cut into 2" squares:

It was so much fun plucking each square from the basket and matching it with it's background. It's a little sad how happy these fabrics make me.Lots of setting of seams and pressing, resulted in this:

30 cheerful 16-patches. Thankfully I was kept company by Jesse Stone...aka Tom Selleck. He's good company when pressing and trimming.

Next up...1/2 square triangles...

and more Jesse Stone. :)

Staci sent me over here...

Great photos and I love your background! I've used that before. I think it will be really nice on this quilt.

Happy quilting!

I am working on some stars too, mine are a l-i-t-t-l-e bit more on the wild and crazy side. That's the way we roll over here in the panhandle of Texas. We also really truly dig Jesse Stone!

I guess I'll have to put this one on my list too. Wow, my list is getting l-o-n-g........sigh

Will be fun watching you and Staci make your own versions of that beautiful quilt! You guys have me so excited about it I feel should start one too. I have ton of reds already cut into squares for another project that I decided to put off until fall, hmmmm and am cutting white tonight for another project that will be complete tonight, wouldn't take much to cut some extra strips, hmmmmm...... maybe tomorrow night after work I may have to dig out the blues, hmmmm...still thinking.
We'll see how tonights project goes. But am keeping an eye on the two of you for now, lol!

Love your enthusiasm and your accomplishments! I'm finishing up the baby quilt that I'm making for a baby shower, but hovering in the back of my mind is a lime green, black and white quilt that I really want to go shopping for!!

I am also planning on making this quilt using some of my 2-inch squares I have received in my 2-inch swap I have been this year (http://thecuriousquilter.wordpress.com/) and then I will be quilting it in a block by block as I am learning a quilt-as-you-go technique. Love this pattern. thanks so much

I love your middles! You're so organized and systematic. Mine is not going near so neatly. And I want mine big, naturally, so have decided to make 42 blocks. Maybe starting with all the centers is the way to go . . .

I've so tempted to make this quilt but don't have a good variety of prints. Sigh!

I'm really excited because I just had a huge light bulb moment. Thank you so much for the inspiration, Karin.
