Small Town 4th

Our 4th of July celebration was low-key this year. I made a batch of Special K Cookies before loading up and heading out.

The little village closest to us (32 miles) celebrates in style.

Small town parades are the best! When the truck dies, it gets propelled down the parade route by friends pushing it with their feet.

Parades are now a family tradition.

And Pap's arms are a pretty good place to share your best candy acquisitions.

Our little flag-waving all-American was ready to celebrate

After the parade we mosied over to the fair grounds to visit with friends and watch the ranch rodeo

It was a fun day, but I was in bed by 8. Socializing wears this hermit out these days.

What a fun day out for the family! I do understand about being in bed by 8 though. Have a great day, hope you find some time for stitching today.

Wonderful way to celebrate our great country’s Independence Day with four generations all together! Who doesn’t love a small town parade!

Our little town went all out this year. The American Legion auxiliary planned for months, hosting fund raisers to raise money for a huge celebration. Contests of all sorts--pie eating, watermelon eating, a parade, the Star Spangled Banner sung by a dear friend of ours, speeches by veterans that brought tears to your eyes and a free dinner that was fabulous--hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, and beautiful, delicious red/white/blue cupcakes. We attended the first part. Later in the evening (8pm) a band started playing and at 10pm the fireworks were said to be spectacular. We missed the music and the fireworks--too late for these older folks! That little granddaughter is a sweetheart!
