This giveaway is now closed - thank you for joining in on the fun!
Quilters are incredibly generous by nature. I have yet to find one who isn't. They give away their beautiful creations on a daily basis. Quilts are donated and gifted by the hundreds. They selflessly share their fabric, patterns, inspiration, stitched masterpieces, and time and and today over at sewmamasew, they have gathered in large numbers to post giveaways.
I love having giveaways! So in conjunction with sewmamasew and to celebrate 300 posts, I wanted to offer a little something too. Last year Deanna, over at Wedding Dress Blue, shared this tutorial to make these potholders. I made a set, and then I made another...and another...and I think I made a total of 8 sets for gifts. And I am still making them! :) My Mom said not to make her any, she had plenty of potholders, but when she saw them, she changed her mind. She wanted a set for herself and a set to show off to all of her friends and neighbors who she now says need some too. LOL.
This giveaway will end on May 25th at 5 pm PST and the winner will be chosen by random number generator and be announced on Sunday, the 27th. I will ship internationally and you do not have to be a follower although I would love to have you become part of the dirt road family.
Please, please, please make sure to leave me your email address if you are a non-reply commenter or I will be unable to contact you if you should win and I'll have to generate another winner. Just leave me a comment and tell me...hmmm...do you like coffee? Since these potholders are made from coffee fabric and I don't like coffee, I thought I would ask. I LOVE the smell, but can not drink it. Everyone told me when I went to college I would learn to drink it, but nope. Just don't like the taste. I'm sure y'all are thinking, "What is wrong with her?!" Well, lots of things, but we won't worry about that today. :)
So have fun hopping around and discovering new blogs to visit this week and thank you for popping in here!
I didn't like coffee until I started drinking it with flavored creamers. Still can't understand how people can drink it black!
ReplyDeleteWell I use to like the taste of coffee, then about 3 years ago I poured myself a cup and went to take that first taste and just could NOT do it, I also love the smell but don't like the taste. I still think your potholders are amazing, thanks for the chance to have them put to use in my kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI felt that way about coffee, too. I take it with lots of creamer and sweet & low. It's kind of like beer. You really have to learn to like it. And, I agree about the smell, if it tasted as good as it smells, I wouldn't work all day. I would just sit and drink coffee. And bacon, too. I LOVE the smell of bacon. I don't eat bacon any more, but occasionally have a club sandwich.
ReplyDeleteLove coffee! Black, iced, you name it. Those potholders are so cool!
ReplyDeleteNothing better than homemade pot holders! Coffee...I tell people that I'm not old enough to drink coffee. I don't think I will ever be old enough to drink coffee!
ReplyDeletethat anonymous comment is from shelljo. stupid blogger...
ReplyDeleteCoffee themed, yum! (as i take another sip of coffee) those would be well used at my house. I only have 2, i keep meaning to make some, but i dont. (sad sigh) Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI'm still not old enough to drink Coffee. Not sure if I ever will be old enough to drink coffee! Shelljo
ReplyDeleteNope, my husband and I don't like coffee at all. I'll drink the occasional cappuccino while traveling but that's it.
ReplyDeleteLOL, it looks like I'm not alone in not liking coffee. I love the fabric though! So cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win these.
I am a coffee drinker, but I have to have one of the flavored creamers.
ReplyDeletemmmm coffee I think I drink to much
ReplyDeletei LOVE coffee! it was being in university that got me hooked. at first it was just during midterms, but now? every day at work. sometimes my boss will even bring me one! and i got jamaican and brazilian coffee for christmas this year, and boy is that stuff good!
ReplyDeleteyou can reach me at supersharmie at gmail dot com :)
I used to LOVE coffee! Now, for some reason, I don't drink it. And sometimes the smell makes me so nauseated now... But those potholders are darling and I'd love to use them!
ReplyDeleteEu gosto de café,tomo algumas muuuuitas xícaras por dia.Sou seguidora e um dia vou ter uma foto com girassóis.Obrigada.tiacarminhapezzuto@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteThanks for this chance to win these lovely potholders! My husband and I both enjoy Columbian coffee and sometimes I make two pots instead of the usual one.
ReplyDeleteCarol (NJ)
I love coffee - I can't stand tea!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win these lovely potholders. It certainly sounds as though they will protect from the heat
ReplyDeleteI have finally learned to like coffee, this past year! But I like it 'girly' as dh says. Lots of cream and a little raw sugar.
ReplyDeleteI found this chocolate coffee the other day, that is the bomb diggity!
I love coffee! Drinking it right now! Love it in ice cream, cookies, candy, you name it! Thanks for the chance..
ReplyDeleteLOVE coffee...and love your pot holders. makes me think I should make a few...since I have supplies. But I'd rather win y ours.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
I am not a fan of hot coffee! I only drink it iced and I have a ton of coffee items in the home in spite of that! I totally understand! Thanks for a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI love coffee and these pot holders are perfect!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you don't like coffee!!! I didn't like it as a kid, but I DID learn to drink it in college and now it is my favorite beverage! and did you know - some restaurants still serve it free!! Love the pot holders!
ReplyDeleteI like coffee on a rare occasion. The smell is gorgeous but I wouldn't have it every day. Love your pot holders.
ReplyDeleteI love the smell and taste of coffee but it makes me really jittery so I only drink a small cup once in a while - usually at the end of a big meal, like Christmas dinner. DH drinks it every day however. Thanks for a chance to win your cute potholders.
ReplyDeleteCooofffeeeee! I am not awake until I've had a cup of coffee. I am not functioning at a normal level until I've had two. Three is a lazy day treat. :-) And, I like it black, but I love it with just a splash of cream or milk to cut the acid a bit. People better keep their flavored creamers away from my joe! :-)
ReplyDeleteThose pot holders are beautiful! I have a pair I made, and then I've NEVER bound the edges of them! How dumb is that? Drives me crazy every time I see them nestled in one of my stash drawers.
addicted to it i'm afraid.
ReplyDeletefingers crossed! treevt80 at yahoo dot com
I agree with you! I love the smell but cannot stand the taste! I have been told I make a good cup of coffee though, because I made my husband teach me. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI'm like you, I LOVE the smell of coffee, cappuccino, anything of the sort. But I don't like the taste. There's just something bitter about it that I can't get past.
ReplyDeletecoffee makes the world go round in my house!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the design of those potholders!!! What a great idea! :) Awesome giveaway idea!!!
I don't drink coffee but love the smell of it. These fabrics are super cute.
ReplyDeleteSuch cute potholders! :)
ReplyDeleteI love coffee, but it has to have lots and lots of milk in it. I can't handle it black. Smells delicious brewing, though!
Thanks for the opportunity to win! :)
sarita0818 at comcast dot net
I LOVE coffee...black, even. My husband fills his with a ton of cream and sugar...pansy. ;) These are darling, btw...and I can't imagine a house with too many pot holders.
ReplyDeleteLove coffee! straight up and strong. Favorite coffee is Cafe Du Monde coffee in my cafe du monde coffee cup. The cup seems to make it taste better.
ReplyDeleteI don't love coffee (I'm a regular tea drinker) but those espresso based frappucinos and macchiatos at the ridiculously expensive coffee shop with the mermaid on the cup - those are divine. Thank goodness there isn't a 'bucks near me, I could blow the budget on those things!
ReplyDeleteI love coffee, that fabric is delish
ReplyDeleteI love love love coffee! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the smell, but I can only want it every once in a while...
ReplyDeleteHave to have my coffee.... although most of my family and friends don't drink it. I made myself drink it because my parents did and because it was served at college socials. Now I'd like to get off it but its my one adiction.
ReplyDeleteI do like coffee, but I'm a bit of a snob. I like good coffee. The stuff that's been sitting on the burner at the fast-food restaurant or the light brown water my mom makes (love ya, mom!) doesn't qualify as coffee.
ReplyDelete;-)
I love coffee! I usually have 2-3 cups per day... its just such a comforting taste to me...
ReplyDeleteabigail.lee {at} gmail.com
I also love the smell of coffee but the taste never lives up to the smell. I'm a tea drinker instead. Thanks for the chance to win your cute potholders.
ReplyDeleteI love the smell of coffee and could smell it all day, but I'm not a fan of drinking it. I do love mochas though!
ReplyDeleteI am not a coffee drinker. Hasn't touched a drop in decades. I do like the smell of it thought.
ReplyDeleteI like coffee with hazelnut syrup and whipped cream. I usually drink hot tea, though. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI'm an addict.... LOVE coffee! Such a cute project!
ReplyDeleteJust like you I love the smell and hate the taste. My nutritionist told me I should drink one or two cups a day because it's good for memory so occasionally I try, but after doctoring it up with cream and sugar I think I've done more harm than good! blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win. I drink espresso with milk every morning and evening.
ReplyDeleteTo cute, and I sure could use a new pot holder. I don't drink coffee, but do like moka jelly beans, does that count?
ReplyDeleteThe potholders are just too cute. I used to love coffee and needed it to get going in the mornings. However, an MD recommended that my husband and I cut back or give up coffee. Now it is being touted for its health benefits but I have stayed true to my ice water for breakfast every day. The ice water gets me going as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the super giveaway.
I love coffee...especially in the morning! Thanks for the chance
ReplyDeleteYes, I like coffee. Looking forward to lots of iced coffee this summer!
ReplyDeleteI love coffee! I am pregnant and have been told to lay off caffeine, and it can be hard to find good flavored coffee in decaf. I am asking for a Keurig for my "baby present". Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI am just like you, love the smell of coffee, hate the taste... I won't even drink from my husband's coffee thermo cup as it ruins the taste of my tea... But I do love the mug rugs and have one on my desk that is about worn out.
ReplyDeleteLove coffee and the potholders! They would go great in my kitchen. In fact, I think I see my name in some of the script on the back of the potholders! lol Thanks for being such a generous lady. :-)
ReplyDeleteCoffee with creamer and sugar, one cup mornings :)
ReplyDeleteThose potholders are great, would love to win and hang on the nook wall!
I started following you about a week ago, love the blog. I have horses and love to quilt so we have some things in common.

ReplyDeleteurchiken at gmail dot com

ReplyDeleteI don't drink normal coffee but I do love special coffees lol. I just don't like paying the price for them so it is a rare treat for me.

ReplyDeleteThose potholder are great - love the fabric!!

Beautiful and so useful! Potholders are high on my to-do list but... I still haven't gotten around to them. I do love coffee, but I cannot drink it anymore. My husband does though, so I get to smell it every morning. Ahhh.
ReplyDeleteI love coffee, but I went right off it both times I was expecting which is wierd
ReplyDeleteI love coffee, and usually drink a cup most days. I'm not one of those who can drink a whole pot, though. And my husband doesn't drink it, so I drink it alone. I wish I could post a picture so you can see what my current potholders look like (scorched from the grill!). These would be a wonderful addition to my kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI WANT to love coffee. Reminds me of my mom who loved her coffee. I love cofee cake, mocha cake, coffee crisp chocolate bars...but not coffee. One day maybe. That and grapefruit... Love your pot holders though :)
ReplyDeleteKarin
ReplyDeleteFun blog and it looks like you have a fun life.
Hope you have a great day.

Do I love coffee? DEFINITELY! I'm almost embarrassed to admit how much I drink. Normally I have 4 or 5 POTS a day. My husband and I drink one together before he goes to work, I make another one when he leaves, then another in the afternoon. Another pot goes on after supper, and then sometimes at 10 or 11 at night I crave more so will make another one. It's not unusual for me to say, "One more cup of coffee then I'm going to bed" I don't even know how I sleep, haha! I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to have these in my kitchen!! We are remodeling, and they would be so cute in there, and my hotpads leave a lot to be desired, so new ones would be great.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win, I dearly love the fabrics you chose. :)
jackieinmi67@gmail.com
I do like coffee (French Roast!) But I'm so sensitive to caffeine that I stick to tea.
ReplyDeleteI also like the smell of coffee, but I hate the taste! :)
ReplyDeletepeachstateme (at) hotmail (dot) com
I love coffee, love the smell of coffee, but it hates me. I will occasionally have a cup but it is full of cream.
ReplyDeleteIt is strange I used to drink a pot of coffee every night before I went to bed. I have only drunk probably less than 10 cups in the past 3 years. For some reason, I have just lost the taste for it. I still love to smell it perking or when you open the can. The potholders are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm a coffee drinker. Thanks for a chance to win your giveaway. I'll have to check out the tutorial for making some of my own if I don't happen to win. Linda
ReplyDeleterodlindafansler at gmail dot com

ReplyDeleteyes i love coffee.
ReplyDeleteI like coffee but only with lots of milk and sugar in it :)
ReplyDeleteI love coffee--can't start my day without it! I have to have it with flavored creamer, though--I so enjoy finding trying new ones.
ReplyDeleteLove coffee (but not black). I just wish sometimes that it would keep me awake. I can drink it right before bed.
ReplyDeletemajorasue(at)hotmail(dot)com

I've always loved the smell of coffee, but only recently really started to love coffee - as long as it is iced! I like my tea hot and my coffee iced. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
I've always loved the smell of coffee (I think of my Dad), but never learned to drink it until a few years ago (I'm 51)! I still drink it about half coffee, half milk & sugar which makes my husband chuckle! Thanks for the very useful giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI have to be in the right mood for coffee - and then its fab x
ReplyDeleteNo coffee for me. I a tea drinker.
ReplyDeleteI never thought I would be a coffee drinker, but now I love it. I got hooked on lattes when I lived in the Seattle area. I'm a bit of a coffee snob, though...it MUST be Starbucks! I have one cup every morning made with Starbucks coffee beans with my homemade flavored creamer.
ReplyDeleteLove the potholders!
I'm the same way. I don't like the taste but love the smell.
ReplyDeleteThrough and through coffee lover. Just gave it up for my pregancy, but not a day goes by that I don't think about it:)

The pot holders are super cute. And funny you should ask if we like coffee. I am the same as you, I love the smell of coffee, but can't drink the stuff. I also don't like any of the cakes or candies that have coffee in them. Thanks for the wonderful give-away oppurtunity. Vicki C - vkcisme@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteas my husband says I like a little coffee with my creamer and sugar. LOL so yes I like Coffee but only if it is sweet and creamy.

ReplyDeleteJust found your blog for the first time. Don't like the smell or the taste of coffee. Never have. That's one way to handle an addiction!
ReplyDeleteI do need some new potholders, though. Just ask my friends! These would be lovely.
OK, off to look further down your blog. Thanks.
