How you Know It's Time to Clean the Windows

Around these parts, wind is just a fact of life. We fuss about it, and yes, even on days like this, we have to get out in it:

We've had two of these in the span of a week. We learn to live with it:

Then we fuss about it some more. :) The horses are a little harder to spot on days like this:

Last week it tried to rain. We ended up with maybe 10 drops per window:

Combined with the wind, this is what we got:

Guess what I got to do when the wind died down?

  2. Hmmm, I do not like to wash windows, but it looks like I'd have to get with it if I lived in your area.

  4. It's seeing and hearing about life in your neck of the woods, that should make all of us appreciate our lives even more. I would love to be in the great outdoors, but not without some support from strong men. Windows I can do, but not sure about cattle rustling! You do have a wonderful life though and I'd love to experience it for a month or two. What's the best time of the year in your opinion for your area.

  5. I'm sure they don't look like it in person, but in the photos, your windows have beautiful effects that remind me of granite I've looked at for my dream-only kitchen, lol. Garden hose - squeegee. It's great to look through clean windows, but what a chore to get them clean!

  6. We've been having dust like that here in my part of NM too--compounded by the forest fire smoke.
    Gust of 57 mph Monday.
I friend who lives south of town told me that several decades ago, her mom would have to bring in the grain shovel to scoop dust out of the corners. This is the worst I've seen it in 11 years in this house--but I remain grateful it's not as bad as it was decades ago.
Like you, our rain has been in the form of "mudballs" rather than raindrops.
    Hang in there!

  7. I loved Lee's comment -- that was definitely the silver lining in your rain cloud! We've got derecho storms anticipated for here, tomorrow. We need to get all the icky weather out of the way because we start VBS next week and it's outside! Egads!! :)

  9. I am so sorry about the wind and dust. My parents are struggling, too, with the drought in Colorado. And they have fires to go with it. I pray for you all.
