I've had this panel for a long time. Probably about 10 years. I'm not really a fan of panels because I'm always at a loss of how to use them, but through the years, a few seem to have found their way into my stash.
While I was hunting for a particular fabric for a gnome 😊, I found this and decided it was time to get it into a quilt somehow.
I was able to cut them down to 6.5" and then I started brainstorming and I soon settled on an economy block. I pulled a variety of coordinating fabrics from my stash (my favorite part!)
And pushed other projects aside in order to make these. They will finish at 12" and I have enough for 30 blocks. I've just made 4 so far, but once I get it everything cut, it shouldn't take long. Yes. I think this will do very nicely
I keep gifting my western quilts so this one will be a welcome addition to have on hand.

I like how you did the blocks. I will have to remember this. I usually do a border around the block but your idea is much more interesting!
ReplyDeleteexcellent idea.....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work! Warm greetings from Montreal, Canada.
ReplyDeleteI’m also not a huge fan of panels, but they do find a way into my stash. I usually end up using them for a quilt backing, adding a few borders or blocks around the panel, to bring it up to the size required. Of course, the panels that are printed in ‘blocks’ need a different plan, such as you’ve done here. Good thing you have a good stash to round things out!
ReplyDeleteIt's gonna be gorgeous!
ReplyDeletegood job
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. Not a fan of panels much eithr but you'd never know where those came from. Darling!
ReplyDeleteI’ve made over 100 quilt tops for the local hospital. The tops are finished by others in the group and offered to folks going through cancer treatment. The required size is 40 x 57/58. There is fabric available, but it’s mostly feminine so I’m using my own stash of cowboy or masculine fabric. We get cards of appreciation from families that makes our cheeks wet. One man wanted his quilt draped on his casket instead of flowers and many have wished to have their quilt in their casket.
ReplyDeleteSo super cute!
