Leap Frog Flannel Quilt

Earlier this spring I dug into my flannel bin, determined to clean it out and get the 15-30 year old fabric into quilts. I posted about the project HERE.

This is the first of those quilts...Leap Frog

The tan, speckled fabric isn't flannel, it's cotton, but it was perfect so I just threw it in.

Such a simple design - no pattern - I just tried to make the best use out of what I had. It finishes at 56" x 68".

I DID buy the Minky for the back though

Those frogs are absolutely delighted to have escaped into the wild after so many years and I'm fairly certain that it will accompany a particular little grandson on many adventures although June is not the best time of the year to cuddle with flannel. I'll save it for his birthday in November.

  1. What a fun quilt. I like that you used a regular cotton with the flannel…it gives a different texture to feel when snuggling up and LOVE a Minky backing. It so soft and shows the quilting so well.

  3. Just got to reading the last three blogs. The pincushion made by, I’m assuming E, is darling and I wouldn’t want to take it apart! Father’s Day was perfect it looks like! Ours was also, we spent it at our daughter and son-in-law’s campsite. They have a permanent one, it is young but lush and green and concrete pads and driveways. It was a beautiful day, no wind, sunny and about 80! I should have taken pictures of our food. We kind of rolled home! Their three children were there also (19, 24, 26) which is a plus, and the other grandparents. Brisket w/provolone cheese and sautéed peppers and onions on toasted buns were the main course, need I say more? The grandmas brought additions. We always do potluck meals. Works great and we make grandkids favorites!
I love the frog quilt! Did you put flannel on the back? I’m hoping your forest fire is out? Joy in NW Iowa

  4. What a satisfying project, and the color coordinated kitten is a nice touch. Also many kudos for your spring cleaning efforts at your in-laws! As we get older and senses of smell and sight become less sharp deep cleaning can get away from us and may not be appreciated, so I am appreciating from afar!

  5. I love this! It’s like the frogs heard the rain so they popped out of your bin to relish it. 🐸
