The mountain had disappeared into the clouds
When you hear 'Snow Day' what do you think?
Curl up under a quilt with a good book? Sew? Do a little baking? Sit by the fire?
The answer? None of the above. Although I did spend time by the fire.
DH came in at 7 and said he was burning the brush piles and would I please monitor the one below the house while he went to burn others.
So I slipped into shoes and went out in my jammies. It wasn't very cold - 29 and it was super toasty next to the fire
Once it had burned down enough, I trotted back up to the house and changed into real clothes, grabbed gloves, donned my Stormy Kromer hat, threw a shovel over my shoulder and climbed into the Can-Am next to Skeet. DH had 7 piles burning
and we went around with a pitchfork and shovel
tossing outlying pieces into the middle
Not a great picture, but I had been working and that fire is hot!
Skeet has always loved the snow
At 9,
he still acts like a puppy
when the ground is white
It was an absolutely beautiful day
And I think we'll sleep well tonight!

Your pictures are always so idyllic! And I couldn't love Skeet any more than I already do! Did you and your husband purposely wait for snow before burning? Just curious as the only thing I know about ranch life is what you tell us. :)
Burn piles in the snow are a great idea, that's when we burn too, as long as there is no wind. Hope you get some stitching time this weekend!
I love snow days but only if I don’t have to go anywhere! Good to see Skeet again. I can’t believe he’s 9. I have been reading your blog since before you got him. If I remember right he was a stray your hubby found. I love Skeet he reminds me of my dog Shorty that I had growing up.
Thanks for showing us the picture of your home; ever since you moved, I'd wondered what your house looked like. So lovely, and what a beautiful location!
