HST Progess Report

I'm having so much fun watching this project come together and stitching with Staci! I love how blogging has allowed me to meet so many amazingly, talented people and where else can you stitch with someone who lives in another state?

Her 16 patches are gorgeous and once we both  stitched those little squares  into place, we both tackled the stack of hst's...the never ending stack of hst's and after what seemed like forever, they were conquered:

I think we wore ourselves out over these little rascals. Hop over and take a peek at  Staci's progress. She's making me covet that Vintage Modern Line. Next up: corner units although don't expect them tomorrow! That thing called 'life' is going to keep me from whipping those out for just a bit, but I need a break from the iron and rotary cutter. After all of that pressing and trimming, I was feeling my age. :)

So, how many of y'all are itching to make some Scrap Star Jar's along with us? Amber has made it easy for us. She has a tutorial for this super fun block here

Edit: I neglected to fess up to the fact that I had to press these twice. I was still partially sleeping when I wrote this this morning. Reading Staci's post, I was reminded. I must have really, really wanted to forget that part! See why I should never stitch alone? I need constant supervision! So thanks Staci! And she thinks SHE'S confused. I think she needs a Super Hero cape!

Look at that circle of pretties! We sure did work hard on them, didn't we? Very very pretty!
Corner units next! And then the best part, putting the blocks together!

Oh, I just love the scrap jar quilt. I wanted so bad to make one but I don't have the red/blue/aqua looking scraps. I drew it up in EQ to see how it would look in a different colorway and I just don't think I would like it in any other colors except these...

BTW...I feel sorry for you on the pressing. UGH! I have a basket of 920 HST's that need pressing and I just can't bring myself to do it right now. I'm not in a hurry to get them done so I'm thinking I will do a few at at time...

good to see your progress! I'm still debating about making one too - I'd want mine to be similar in color range so it's not so 'flag-like' in colors, but still patriotic-ish. You are using from aqua to navy and red to maroon it looks like? No pinks I'm guessing?

Love your fabric and how neat you have them all stacked! It's going to be such a pretty quilt.

LOVE you wagon wheel of HST's!!! they are so pretty. Though i'd let you know I FAILED at completeing the challenge you offered/threw down............sort of... ;0
Is a failure because I do not even have one star together, and tuesday night I was planning on having a whole 9 only NINE block top done, after all I had a good little pile of pieces/parts partially assembled, a few parts hanging around on the design wall...... but things happen, and to me usually odd things....most of the time due to my own weirdness.... ;). I just cut and sew randomly, cut some more, sew some more, and on and on. Tues night discovered my bad habit of ignoring the "COUNTING" process had gotten me into trouble again.... I had 17 (LOL, I only needed 9) of the 16 patch units, only enough HSTs for about 7 blocks(just realized only 3.5 blocks miscounted again) and a stack of corners but not enough. I think some of the pieces I intended to be corners ended up as 4 patches, LOL. So.... decided since I had so many center units I would make more of the other pieces and make 2 quilts. Got most of them sewn last night, i think (or should say I hope).......still kind of ignored the counting process......will let you know later. Need to press and trim HSTs. This is fun!

These look so pretty! But wow is that a lot of hst! You have stamina girl! I checked out Staci's progress and you guys blow me away. I am making myself finish what I'm working on before I start another project since there are several projects laying around my table right now that need to be worked on -- but the temptation of this quilt is very very strong!!! I'm probably doomed - LOL!

Ooh pretty picture!

See, now you girls are starting to see what a big accomplishment it was for me to make 42 blocks! There are lots of little pieces and each little step ends up taking quite a long time. Hang in there. It will come together. Slowly, but surely :)

Happy quilting!
