My Sewing Sabbatical Has Been Broken

I haven't a clue as to why I abandoned my sewing machine for over 3 months, but it seems as if we have been reunited:

And after a couple of hours this weekend,

a baby quilt top was born:

This is a tutorial from Amy Smart for the Lone Star Baby Quilt. I made one last year for a co-worker's first grand baby

and I think this is going to be my go-to quilt pattern for a baby girl. At first I thought it might be kind of small (it's 38 x 38 once it's been washed), but my co-worker said it's their favorite gift, the perfect size, and it gets used every single day. That's a winning combination in my book.

It's been a long dry spell, but I've got more baby quilts to make so here's hoping the stitching continues!

Those are beautiful quilts, Karin! I always think I should make baby quilts with baby-sized blocks -- but now I'm rethinking that!

Like the quilt..have REALLY missed your blog. I check every day and KNOW you are doing something special. You are busy but I hope you blog more. NOBODY lives the life you do; quite interesting except for the snakes..........

Another good one. Should be pretty quick and easy too. Did you do the FMQ?
Glad you're back sewing and hope to see more blogs.

I am so into those colors and the small prints right now. That made a sweet quilt. Gonna go check out that pattern, very simple.

It's a very pretty baby quilt. The colors remind me of the variegated baby yarn. I'm happy you have your sewing mojo back. I am sewing almost daily but I don't live on a ranch. I just need to blog more but then it would take away my sewing time. I was doing 3 quilt along but dropped one. My blocks were larger that 12.5! Guess I need to follow directions better. I try to stay positive but wish I was in the advanced quilting instead of the confident beginner. We are headed to Allen, TX to watch the grandkids. Hubby is coming along which makes it easier for me. I'm taking fabric with me so hope I can do a little sewing while the kids are in school. As usual the time change of 2 hours will be difficult but hubby will get me up! Have a nice week!
