Annual Spring Baby Post

Even after 35 years of spring babies, I still get excited when calving season begins:

And I never tire of these sweet faces:

DH and I went to feed the 2-yr old heifers a few weeks ago- they are first time mamas:

These Corrientes are such good mamas:

I took this photo a few years back, but it's one of my favorites and I'm finally having it printed on canvas

And this year, this little fella captured my heart:

Look at the little white heart on his forehead

I stalked the poor thing:

This is the way we entertain ourselves out here - watching the babies

And now they are gone. We shipped the last of the Corrientes a few weeks ago. 😭

I'm glad I was able to capture a few last shots:

My retired older cowboy always said the two saddest days on a ranch were branding day and shipping calves day. He really felt for our critters as did I.

Are you selling them because of no grass or do you always sell the calves? Your pictures are so awesome! My favorite time of the year when the calves were running and playing across the road in the pasture.

One look at those soulful eyes and my heart melts.

Love you pictures. What better way to entertain yourselves. I wonder where that little calf with the heart ended up. I'll spend the rest of my days looking for him when I see cows (and I don't know one breed from another!).

Oh my gosh, the heart!! Adorable (and those lashes in the last pic!!). This hurts my heart for you guys. There's a couple of herds of cows around the corner from me; one has a few longhorns and some aren't. The other herd are red cows (don't know what they're called). I always love driving by and seeing the babies. Just today, I was on my way home and 'awww-ing' over the babies.
