Can tell from your terrific montage of photos that your son is the sunshine of your life. What a proud mom you are and have every right to be. Will pray for his safety while he is deployed and until he can give you a great big hug again.

Karin, my heart aches for you. I know one one hand how incredibly proud your are of him and on the other, how much you would have him stay nearby and safe. I *so* appreciate his sacrifice of service to our country and will be praying for "Karin's son in Afghanistan". Hugs! :)

Okay - the keys are swimming!! Oh, the things we have in common!! Though I don't have one in the military - the burden my sister carries, I too will carry!

Blessings to you Sweet Sister!!

He is such a doll! What a wonderful young man you have raised...you SHOULD be proud and I know you are.

He knows the Lord and there is no safer place than the center of God's will. I will pray for his protection and comfort for his family. Sending big hugs from KS sweet friend!

Oh Karin, I thought it must be a special birthday and I was smiling looking at these photos and the love you have for him - until the last one and then the tears came so suddenly. I've had a little glimpse into both your kids growing up through this blog for years now. What an amazing family God has given you! I will be praying for all of you.

I had the same thought as newsgirl...must be a birthday, looking, smiling until the last pic. I have goosebumbs and watery eyes. You must be proud and concerned at the same time. My thoughts and prayers are send towards you, your son and his safty.

What a wonderful looking boy. Will pray for his safe return home. I understand your joy and sorrow at this time, I had a daughter in the Navy and a son in the army. Both went overseas.

Stay safe ,

What a wonderful tribute to your son! He obviously makes you very proud! And he's quite the handsome young man in that spiffy uniform! Just know that we send prayers for his safety while he's over there, and we're all grateful for his service!

From our military family to yours.....blessings!

Just found your blog but you sweet lady and your wonderful son, please know you are both appre-ciated and on our minds daily. I understand your heart flutters and skips a beat. My daughter is a contractor and will be there one week a month with the rest of the month spent "safely" in the middle east. As a member of the military family for more than 45 years, the best advice I have is just keep breathing on day at a time until you can hold them close again.
