Turning Up the Heat

We're gearing up to brand the Corrientes. 3 days next week and three days the following week so that means I've been knee deep in menu planning and list making mode these past few days. I was at the grocery store at 5 a.m. on Friday loading up on all the necessary ingredients.

Breakfasts will be at 4 a.m. That translates to setting my alarm at 2:30. I don't even think there's an emoji that can convey the emotion that coincides with getting up at that time of the day.

The older I get, the harder days like that are, but as long as everyone stays safe, it'll all be good. Our temps have been incredibly pleasant this summer, but this week, the scorching heat promises to make a triumphant debut to welcome the summer of '17. That will just be a lovely accompaniment to my recent introduction to hot flashes. Is there a sarcastic emoji?

Between the outside temperature, the branding fire, the oven and stove running non-stop, and  my internal thermostat, 'Turning Up the Heat' seems like an appropriate title for this post. Have ya'll heard of that Polar Bear challenge from a few years back? I always thought those folks were nuts. Right now, that sounds like the most wonderful idea ever created. When I picked up sacks of ice at Sam's on Friday, I really wanted to climb into that freezer.

Here, this sums it all up perfectly. In between the batches of rolls and stacks of dirty dishes you can find me here:

Teeheheh... thanks for the laugh this morning Karin. I'll be up and about at the time, thinking of you roasting as you cook the breakfast. Wish I could join you in the kitchen, would love to hang out on your ranch for a few days. Take care and wear as little as possible ;)

Power surges is what I called those unexpected heat missives. Living in a hot climate would only make them worse.

Oh, Karin, I can relate. That picture of the dog on ice says it all, doesn't it?
I can't imagine keeping up with your schedule. You are Superwoman, if there ever was one!

Yep...been there done that....lol
Call it a power surge and see if that helps!

I know what you're going through -- ugh! Hot flashes and summer heat = bad combination. I feel like I'm on the verge of self-combustion several times a day. We just got a heat advisory issued for our weekend here, too. Summer is here!!!! But at least I don't have to get up at 2:30 am -- whew! You have fun with that. I'll be thinking of you (but not till around 6:00 am!)

I'm sorry for you. I went through it and am on the other side, the slippery slope. It was bad. Now, thanks to Addisons Disease, I don't tolerate the cold, but prefer warmer climates. Today we are at the Grand Tetons National Park, where it's beautiful and very cold! I'm sorry you are getting up so early. Try to take rest times when you can. Take care.

Oh sweetie ! I feel very sorry for you this next several days...When I went through the "change", I worked at a restaurant and I was the cashier...it was a cafeteria and the line just never stopped through the lunch hour. My meltdowns always chose to appear when I was ringing up the lunches. It was SO embarrassing to have sweat running off your scalp and down your face when you are standing face to face with the customer!

I need to show my husband that picture. He is undergoing treatment for prostate cancer which includes surgery, radiation, and hormones. The hormones are causing him to have hot flashes so bad that he is having trouble sleeping. The ladies at church recently told him that he could come to our parties because he would fit right in:)

Wait till one day when you look like you fell in the swimming pool and you haven't been around any water. The blessing is that "there is a pill for that". See your doctor and go back to the way you used to feel. I was a school teacher and w/o my meds some children might have died when they crossed my path during those couple of years. Not fun oh my daughter said I was SO MEAN then. Good Luck!

I get up at 4:00 a.m. and think that is an unreasonable hour--whew 2:30 just seems wrong. Hope you get relief from the heat both external and internal. No one understands the true meaning/misery of a hot flash until they have had one!

Shame on those hot flashes for appearing during summer's heat. They could at least have waited until winter! But even if they had, they're no fun in any season. Take care!
