Caution: Reindeer Ahead (Blog Hop Giveaway!)

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks so much!

Blog Hop Party with Give-Aways

Yay! It's time! It's time! I'm so excited!  There are an awful lot of fun bloggers showing up at this party on the 10th and every one of them is giving something away. There will be over 250 blogs to hop to so get your hoppin' boots on! The first day this Blog Hop Giveaway was announced, I jumped in and signed up. Then I began to contemplate. Hmmm...
What should I give away? So I sorted...and stitched...and strung...and pulled...and dug...and glued. I wanted to give away all sorts of things. Then I needed a bigger box. LOL.

So, I settled on this:

I hope you'll like him. I've been making these for 14 years now. At least a dozen grace my buffet for giving every year.

I keep thinking I've given these to everyone I know and then each year, new people pop up. :)
Yikes! That's a lot of reindeer... and a lot of reindeer droppings.

Yep. This little guy is not house trained, but I hope you'll welcome him anyway. LOL. He will arrive in this little gift bag which is the brainchild of Jeni .

accompanied by this little snowman who is covering up a giant Hershey Bar:

I'm thinking the fact that a candy bar will be hanging around here for an entire week without being devoured is some kind of record. He's the creation of Laurie Furnell and I am smitten with them.

Do I have any takers?
No rules. You don't even have to be a follower although I would love it if you were. Just leave me a comment and tell me what is your favorite Christmas baked good? If you haven't blogged about it, maybe you will and then I could hop over and add a scrumptious new recipe to my cookbook. :)

My list is long and I would be hard pressed to choose just one, but the Birthday Cake for Jesus and the gingerbread cowboys probably get top billing.

One year we moved between Christmas and New Years. We never have movers although one time we splurged and rented a Uhaul. Horse trailers are generally our mode of transporation. (Insert Beverly Hillbillies here.)  It was 5 hours one way and we made the trip 4 times that week with 20" of snow on the ground. We moved into a house where the heat didn't work and the water heater left us 3 minutes of hot water, but that's a rabbit trail for another day.

Needless to say, it didn't leave much time for baking and we were sad. My inlaws met us when we drove through town and my dear MIL loaded us up with Christmas candy and cookies. It was 3 pm, we hadn't eaten, and we proceeded to make ourselves sick in the parking lot of Paul's Vet Supply while the men visited and we raided the Cool Whip containers. LOL.

This giveaway will remain open until Saturday, December 17th and I'll announce the winner on the 18th.

Thanks so much for dropping by and y'all come back now, ya' hear?

Those are so cute! I am not nor will I ever be that creative. I like to bake the holiday goodies and just throw them in any thing I happen to have around...I am totally into cool whip containers..yet I don't use cool whip so that is a problem. :)

I love making gingerbread men. That is my most favorite Christmas cookie. And I love making this applesauce cake that my grandmother made. I even have her tube pan that she always used. I think that is what makes it the most special.

Have a great day.

Hmmm well being from hot climates I can't really think of any traditional baked goods other than mince pies. So they would probably have to be my favourite by default :)

Hi Karin,
I am not a great baker- just don't have the knack- I used to bake bread ( a number of years ago) and such but have stopped doing that.
I make a few things like nuts and bolts and eat more bars in the microwave . They taste remarkably like the real thing and my dad loves them. I will make at least one batch for Christmas- perhaps two..
Your reindeer is cute and I love the bag he comes in - very clever.
Hope all is well with you and yours,
Regards from Western Canada,
Anna

Hi Karin, I'm kinda slow getting around to your blog hop!!Sorry, I'd love a chance to win one of those little reindeer!! He's a cutie! Love the moving story - we moved from Texas to Nebraska on December 19 one year - horse trailers, Uhaul and a remuda of pickups! We put up the tree the next just for some normalcy for the kids - they needed it!! I did bake a little the next week - such memories!!! My favorite recipe would have to be snickerdoodles!!!

Blessings

CUTE! Thanks for posting this, it made me think... which one? pondering perhaps the mini fruitcake recipe I use.
I can't tolerate most fruitcakes but this I found through a Taste of Home years ago are "the best", or so that's what many people tell me after they've tried them. The platter always comes home empty. I'll be making them this next week so will post it on my blog when I do.

Hi, thank you for being part of the hop your giveaway is so creative I wish I was, but I guess I must have some I do do crafts and sew and make cards and well you know. Everyone always ask for my peanut butter cookies every Christmas even though I did give everyone a copy of my recipe but they keep saying I don't know what I am doing wrong but they don't taste like yours. I think they say that so I will make them but don't tell them I am on to them. Happy Holiday to You and Yours.

Malted milk balls? I don't care how they are disguised because I LOVE them. Anyway, baked goods? Nothing beats homemade bread, anytime of the year. I need to get some made myself. We have had bakery bread the past week because of time restrictions and the family is wondering where the good stuff went to.

Too Cute! My Grandson would love seeing one. My favorite thing to bake at Christmas is fruit cake not one of those yucky ones with candy citrus peel. But with candy cherries sometimes homemade ones, homemade candy pineapple has much better taste than store bought, fig preserves yum yum sweet( if no fig preserves are left from summer canning then dates), pecans I love to have candy watermelon rinds too but DH abhores them so most of the time they aren't in the cake, pineapple juice, flour, sugar(not a diabetic cake)and eggs

Oh, SOOO cute! Reindeer and snowmen are my two most favorite Christmas characters-- even over Santa .. (sorry Santa, but who can resist those adorable reindeer! ;-) My favorite Christmas sweet is decorated sugar cookies, hands down-- they're not only yummy-- but SO pretty... however, there is another dessert that I LOVE and everywhere I take them they are literally devoured and everyone wants the recipe-- Neiman Marcus Brownies-- which aren't chocolate, but use a butter-pecan cake mix.. they're SO good! :-)

I have always loved the Kentucky Derby Pie, we only make once a year. It's just Pecan pie with chocolate chips & a little bourbon (alcohol cooks out). My dad supposedly bribed the recipe from someone who worked near the Kentucky Derby (over many months as a regular at a restuarant). I think I have seen some versions of this on other sites, so maybe not such a big secret after all. It's rich though, so slices are thin.
I love your reindeer & snowman! Thanks

Cat said...

I forgot to say I loved your little moving story too. We have always moved ourselves, except once & after losing so much, we'd never do it again. They were crooks. Bless your MIL.

Those are so adorable!! Do you have a tutorial or instructions for how to make them? The snowmen are a good idea too - makes a simple gift so easily. I love the idea to make a birthday cake for Jesus, but we have three December birthdays so we're sick of cake by the end of the month anyway. But great idea. Wish I had some cowboy gingerbread men cookie cutters. They would go over so well here in Wyoming! Anyway, my favorite treat is called Haystacks – large marshmallows, dipped in melted caramel, then rolled in Rice Krispies. My grandma always made these.
