On the day I went to visit the CPA, whom I adore, I drove right past a JoAnn's. I am hoping to tackle some applique quilts here some time in the near future, and wanted to pick up some light fusible. Well, of course I had to walk past the fabric. It can't be helped and yes, something jumped off the shelf and landed at my feet:
And then it called out to all of it's buddies:
and before you knew it, I had the makings of a quilt in my cart:
And I decided I really like this combination although I posted that initially, I was perplexed by it. Hmmm...looking at this photo on the computer makes me think that middle yellow is going to scream in the quilt. I'll probably change that out for a more subdued piece. I think it will be much happier if I turn into a duck...stay tuned for that one. I've got enough for both if I change my mind though.
Of course, the fact that it was on sale, made me love it even more and I even chose backing:
So all systems are go on Haley's Wedding Quilt!
Seems like the minute I made that UFO list and vowed to concentrate on it, all diligence went out the window. I'll tell you, new projects sure are bossy. :)

Love the colors.
Don't you just hate when that fabric "jumps"? Sometimes it pushes me right over. LOL
Yes new projects are really bossy. I have started 8 new ones already this year. I had a rule, finish 2 then I can start one. Want to know how many I have finished?? Should be 16 right?! ZERO, not a one, I hadn't even worked on one that needs finishing yet. Oh my! That is one rule I didn't want to break. This weekend and next week I am having a binding party, that will be 7 or 8 finished, so at least it won't be too bad.
Nice combination! I'm envious. My vow to work only on UFOs was broken just 2 days after I made it!! But I like to work on small projects, try new things, and have several projects going at once.
gorgeous fabric..the combo is striking
You found the right combination of colors. They will make an attractive quilt. The middle yellow is a bit bold, but it may add some "pop" to the blocks.
Lovely, lovely, lovely!!! I'm being strong - NO personal new projects - only those for my venture. But my oh my, there are some very pretty sals going on out there - but I'm being strong...maybe!! LOL
Be Joyful!
love the colors, but I think you are right about that middle yellow. I am sure your quilt is going to be very pretty. You are right about fabrics calling out to you. Yesterday we passed through Paducah, Kentucky on our way home from the south, and I asked my husband if we could stop so I could visit the Hancock Fabrics just to look around and see what it was like and maybe pick up a half yard of something for piping a dress I am making. And then the fabric called out in very loud voices and I ended up getting $200+ worth. That store is amazing! Anyway -- happy sewing!
Mmm Mmm Lovely!! I am glad they joined in your quilting cause ;-) nice fabrics!!
SO pretty, There's that gray popping up again!I love fabric "sew" much, that I get excited when other people get to buy some. Have fun!
Wow, you are a get-er-done kind of person, huh? No dilly-dallying about fabrics and colors for you. I love it! The colors are lovely but I agree about the middle yellow. I hope you'll post progress and photos of the finished quilt.
Great colors. I especially like the larger print grey at the left.
I'm happier this year because I decided not to make another silly new year resolution about any of my UFO's. I decided I'd do them when I felt the urge and dismiss feeling any guilt! What a relief! Sure, I'll get to them someday, but on my terms at my time. Try this, it's relief!
Love those blues and yellows. It will be a gorgeous quilt. I agree with the yellow just sitting there but maybe it will find it's spot and behave properly. It's such a pretty, happy yellow!
I adore these fabrics ... great choices! What a lovely quilt they will make! :)
Oh, they are! Those new projects just jump up and down and practically lick you in the face like a puppy. I really love your color combination and am eager to see what kind of pattern you've chosen.
