For my Chicken Loving Buddies

OK, this one is for all of you gals who have a fondness for chickens. I saw this quilt at the quilt show this weekend and I immediately thought of all of you. Well good gravy! How in the world did I get away without a picture of the entire quilt???!!! Really? I must have been so captivated by each one that I just wasn't thinking. Yes, those of you that know me can laugh now. Well here is the info and the individual blocks:

I wish you could see these in person. I think Trish did a great job in choosing the fabrics:

The chicken wire is not printed. It is stitched:

I have to track down these patterns. I'm not sure if I could do this or not, but where there is a will, there is a way and I'm going to name each one of these after one of you.

Yes, I know some of these are roosters. :)

I don't know who's who just yet, but it will come to me as I stitch.

One lady told me that the patterns were really expensive so this may be a really long project, but look how cute they are!

How can you NOT love them?

Wow!!! Impressive chickens/roosters. Lots of work, but looks well worth the effort. I'm heading to our quilt show in the morning and plan on lots of photos and putting them on a CD as inspiration!

Wow the wire was stitched! I wonder if the gal that made the quilt did it or was it purchased that way? No doubt computer sewing machine that did it or not? I am just baffled by the whole thing. It's so much work!! I love them all but I think my favorite is the last one.

These are Radical Rooster patterns by Florine Johnson Designs, and she does have a blog. I love them!Have you seen the new fabric that Terri Degenkolb designed for Red Roosters 10th anniversary? And the companion book? Love that quilt that uses the panel and has the pieced chickens. Hope I can find it somewhere!

Lol. I like the crowing rooster best. We don't have chickens (or any barn animals, for that matter - don't live on a farm) but I can imagine a live rooster with his head thrown back, welcoming the morning. Thanks for sharing photos. I wonder if you could enlarge your photos enough to make patterns. (Would that be breaking copyright, I wonder?)

These are so cute. I recently saw a similar quilt top that had these same chickens/roosters done in all hand applique. They had the printed fabric chicken wire as the background and the border had some wonderful 3-dimentional sunflowers here and there on it. The lady that showed it was asking our long armers how we would quilt it. I wish I had taken a picture of it now.

I love these and can think of several names (of friends) that would be very appropriate. I would really consider doing these, even with the "wire." Thanks for sharing. Teri R
