It's Giveaway Day!

This Giveaway is now closed

It's time again for Sew Mama Sew's biannual giveaway party. I love participating because it's a great way to meet new bloggers and it's really just so much fun giving things away and when you win, you get to look forward to receiving a treat in the mail and who doesn't like that?

There's lots of places to visit and there will be all sorts of wonderful treasures to win so be sure and check out all the participants.

If this is your first time visiting here, welcome! If you've been here before, welcome back!

Here's what I have for y'all today. I've divided it up into 4 lots so you have 4 chances to win:

Lot #1  The ABC's of Words on Quilts by Elizabeth Scott
A Touch of Rosie Quilts (somehow, I ended up with 2 copies of this)
Turning Twenty Just Got Better by Tricia Cribbs

Lot #2  Fresh Fabric Treats from the Moda Bakeshop Designers
Easy Quilt Projects (Favorites from the Editors of American Patchwork and Quilting
Turning Twenty Feelin' Groovy (Book 4)

Lot #3  3 - 1/2 yd cuts of Amy Butler Fabric.

Lot #4  3 1/2 yd cuts: 1 Desert Daydreams by Anthropology
2 Good Fortune by Kate Spain

So starting today you can put your name in the hat by leaving me a comment. Just tell me if you like to bind quilts. I like everything about making a quilt, but I think I like hand stitching the binding down to the back the most.

I'll let the random number generator choose 4 names and the first name gets first choice and so on. This giveaway will be open until Friday, May 10th, 5 p.m. PST. I will ship internationally so everyone can chime in! Thanks so much for stopping by. Friends and family say I always feed everyone who wanders down the dirt road so I feel as if I ought to at least be handing out cookies or something in honor of y'all. Fajitas are on the menu for tonight just in case you REALLY stop in. :)

Lately I've enjoyed binding my quilts. Use to dread it, and why that changed I have no idea. Could be that binding being the last step, then the quilt is FINISHED! What a good feeling!

I will sure enter your giveaway, you've got some really generous prizes ! Binding...well, I tend to procrastinate.... I don't dislike it, but it's not my favorite thing.

Looks like a lovely pile of goodies Karin. Thanks for the giveaway. I don't like to bind, but I don't dislike it either. It's just part of the process to me. I machine quilt mine, as I have problems hand sewing.

I love to bind quilts and that exactly what I'm doing today! When you're binding, you're finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel... your quilt is almost done. I think that's why I like it so much.. the finished product is right within reach.
OH, wish I was closer... Fajitas sound delious :)

I know a lot don't like to bind but I don't mind in the least - it means I am just about done with the quilt doesn't it. I don't mind taking those little hand stitches as hand stitching is what I love to do.

I love sewing down the binding too! It means the quilt is about done and all the plans I've had for it are about to come true.

Binding runs a very close second for me when making a quilt, designing is probably my favorite part. I guess that is a handy thing since I love the first step and the last step it gives me encouragement to get all the parts in the middle done !

I like the handstitching of the binding, but I have carpal tunnel and it makes it very hard to get anything done hand wise. I have to say most of my bindings are machine done because of this. When I have a runner, topper or small quilt I do try to do those by hand.
Thanks for the opportunity to win.

Thanks for the great give-away! I don't mind binding my quilts as it means I can move on to the next exciting project.

I love to do the binding! It's the LAST step and indicates I may soon have a finished project. I sew the binding onto the right side by machine and then enjoy touching every inch of the edge as I handsew it to the back. Thanks for the giveaway. I love to read your adventures!

I don't mind binding at all, well, except maybe for how sore my fingers get if it's been awhile. I've never grown used to a thimble, but do use those little stick-on things. Thank you for the opportunity of winning one of the sweet giveaway gifts :)

Thanks for the chance.

I really enjoy binding. Sometimes it feels like it takes just as long to bind as it does to quilt! But I find it really relaxing to sit with the quilt in my lap and just work my way around it. My quilt mentor told us one day that it's our way of saying goodbye to the quilt. I like that thought.

Nessa said...

The handstitching of the binding is THE BEST bit, because it means that you are almost finished!! I'd love the amy butler fabric the most, but all of your giveaways are very generous and would be most useful.

Ellen said...

Binding really feels like the finishing touch on a quilt. I will bind by machine for a quick quilt, and I've recently done a faux-piping binding on a baby quilt that looks really cute. But nothing compares to the finished look of a hand-sewn binding.

Thanks for being so generous. I'm not sure if I like binding yet or not. My first full sized quilt is basted and ready to be quilted, so I haven't gotten there yet on the binding. I've stitched a number of hotpads, and machine stitched the bindings on those.

I'm normally too impatient to see the quilt finished so I don't normally enjoy binding the quilt. I always prepare the binding before I start to quilt. That way I can get going with it as soon as I've finished quilting. Great give away!

To be honest, I have never tried sewing on a binding by hand (gasp!) I always sew them down by machine (with a decorative stitch of my machine or a triple zig zag stitch). Don't judge me :o) Thanks for that generous giveaway!!!

I really love doing handwork so I'm very comfortable with sewing on binding by hand. Wouldn't have it any other way and in any case it looks much neater. Thank you for your fab giveaways.

With a good movie on the tv, I enjoy binding quilts.

I like hand binding too- and after the intensity of quilting , the binding part is a nice way to wind down, and admire the completed quilt:)
Thanks for the chance to win!

My sewing room is in the back of the house so I enjoy binding and quilting by hand so that I can spend time with the family in front of the TV

I cant sew a straight stitch by hand to save my life.. I do like binding quilts though (by machine) .. I think that part is what I look forward to the most when I make a quilt.

I enjoy hand binding most of my quilts. It's relaxing and I like the finish so much better.

I've been enjoying binding quilts more now that I've done it many times. When I first started I was terrible at it and therefor did not like it lol.

I've never done hand-sewn binding but I'd be willing to try. I find myself needing more projects to take on the go so that would be a good one.

I'm new to quilting so I've only bound two quilts by hand and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It was very satisfying and I can watch tv while doing it:)

I don't really mind. I'm interested in bundles 3 or 4.

Hand sewing the binding is the best part for me - in fact I'm in the middle of one right now!

When you´re sewing the binding, you know you´ll have a finished quilt when you´re done. That´s what I like about binding and I always handsew!

I used to hand sew the binding on, but it took so long! I started machine stitching them down, and for the last quilt I made I got fancy with a zig zag stitch. Thanks for the chance to win!

I don't mind binding, but I do it all by machine. I never sew anything by hand, ever.

I hand-sew all my bindings. I don't dislike it, but it's not close to being my favorite part of the process either. I do like the feeling of being almost done!
