Sewing Slump

You would think my indoor confinement would translate into oodles of sewing progress, but that has not been the case. And truth be told, I'm not indoors all the time. I have GOT to get outside some just for my sanity. But, I seem to be in a sewing slump. Projects are mocking me from their respective bins:

And I feel a little guilty that I'm ignoring them. I HAVE added stitches to my little EPP project:

But my sewing chair remains empty.

I don't really want to cut fabric for a new project and my current project requires lots of hopping up and down which probably isn't the best idea for my knee right now:

I need more muslin for the connecting diamonds and trips to Hobby Lobby, or anywhere else, are out of the question right now. DH hasn't had to do the grocery shopping in the 32 years we've been married, but he picked up a few things the other day. I told him I'd be glad to turn groceries over to him permanently since he was doing such a wonderful job, but I don't think I'm going to get that pushed through. 😉

I'm doing quite a bit of reading. Our girl gave me a lovely stack of books for Christmas and I am devouring the stories and relishing the fact that I have the time to lose myself in the pages.

I am cooking although I'm keeping it pretty simple because it's just not fun heating up the kitchen when it's this hot

And yes, I'm trying to rest my leg and let it heal, but I'm not a very good patient. The other day I told a friend that I am kind of like a 2 yr-old insisting that "I DO IT!" And I want to thank all of ya'll for your many kind comments, thoughts and prayers - I am touched by your thoughtfulness. I'm still hobbling around, but have an appointment tomorrow.

Still, I'm not complaining - even if it sounds like it - 😉 because it could be worse and this will heal with time. I just hate that DH is having to pick up the slack. I think I'll mix up a batch of cookies and bake them while it's still fairly cool. Cookies are a love language around here. 😊

A yummy love language those cookies are!!! Oh I hope you are enjoying the books and able to not stress - sometimes its good for others to be reminded of what all we do?? Share your good books with us!

Once your hopping gets easier, use an electric scooter cart at the grocery store. Tell the clerk you need someone to take the groceries to your vehicle. Any store worth their salt would gladly oblige. Glad you're working your way through the books.

Oh GOSH!! That's TERRIBLE! Those cookies look SO GOOD! HA I'm sure the hubs doesn't mind helping you being as you help him so each helping the other. Take advantage of the needed down time as soon you'll be back slavin' away in that kitchen (and elsewhere!).

I'm so far behind in my blog reading, Karin, that I didn't know you had an injury to your knee. How hard, and sad, and probably painful. I'm so sorry. (I went back and read your previous post and left a comment.) The end of this post with your comment about your husband having to pick up the slack reminded me of your husband's sore back a year or two ago. I'm sure he's willing to pick up the slack for you now as you did for him then, even if it is hard. That's the kind of things husband and wife do for each other, right?
I hope your good books can keep you occupied until your knee heals!

Hi Karin, I've been wondering how you are doing. Sorry you have to see the Dr, but I'm glad you are getting it looked at and I hope it heals quickly. Glad you've been catching up on your reading, what books are you reading? Take care!

We all hit the sewing slump now and then...you'll come back soon I hope. We need to see your quilts for good visual inspiration. Boy those cookies too... I could do some damage there. They look YUMMY. I love to read also but can tell my eyesight is getting worse. Feel better soon.

Looking forward to seeing what you are going to do with your EPP stars. I'm still working on my EPP project that I got the inspiration for on your blog a few years ago -- the 6 pointed stars with the hexes. But my hexes are also scrappy. I am really happy with the what I have done so far. We are leaving soon on a two month long driving trip, so I will have plenty of time to add to it:) Maybe I will even get it close to finishing.

Sometimes we get in a slump. I haven’t done any cross stitch for 6 months or more. Just no desire. I did get out an unfinished project last night that I might start up on again. My DS just got married (on Thursday) so I now need to stitch them a wedding sampler. Just need to confer with new DIL about what she’d like. Do something else, keep reading! Many of the titles you listed are titles I’ve read! I also think you’ve got my work email which won’t work anymore...
