My Kitchen

Our sweet girl went home to spend a few days with her Daddy this weekend. She sent me a picture of my kitchen. It does not have a dishwasher, nor a disposal, and the big hot water heater sits in the corner. Yes, it is outdated. In an old ranch house with slanted floors that have holes in it where our girl attempted to drill holes in the lid of her hamster bin with the power drill when she was 11. 😄 The drawers stick. It is tiny. But it is often filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread. It has enabled us to cook many a nourishing meal; bake endless desserts, pies, and cookies; and build treasured memories. It has seen endless prayer, much laughter, a few tears, and even a cross word now and then. And always, it is filled with love. Yes, it has served us well through the years.

She sent it with the caption, "Look how cute and clean your kitchen is!"

My reply, "What? No before picture?" 😄 Her Daddy has been batching for 3 weeks while I am with my mom.

He told her she didn't need to clean, he "has a system".

She said, "Your system is flawed, Sir." 😄

They are good for each other. She said she didn't make the trip for him. She made it for me, but I know it does his heart good to have her there and I'm pretty sure it does her heart good to be home.

Yes it would have been fun to see the before picture of your kitchen! Has hubby been eating frozen dinners or sandwiches? He sure doesn’t have time to cook for himself! Glad your daughter got to visit him! The house I grew up in had a big kitchen but not a lot of cabinet and counter space. My mom sewed at our kitchen table her entire life. It was always a pain putting her sewing stuff away to eat! I am so thankful for my humble sewing room! I hope you and your mother are doing well. Hang in there! Maybe you can bring your sewing machine next time.

What a GREAT kid you have there!! Wish I had one like her. Yes, I'm sure being together did their hearts good (and yours as well). Hope mom gets better soon and you can get back to the dirt road.

This is just the sweetest thing ever! Lots better than an expensive store bought gift. Lots of love in that kitchen.

What a sweet honest post. Who cares if the kitchen is outdated (so is mine btw) it is still the heart of a home and the heart is the most used muscle in your body. If your drawers stick and they are of wood, rub a candle on the sides that glide. They will slide out smoothly ... for awhile. ;^)

What a sweet story, Karin.
That is more counter space than I grew up with, but my Mom was not a cook, so she didn't care. :)
I don't know how you manage with all the crew cooking you do! But it is a cute kitchen.
