Time for Easy Street and a Weather Report

Starting a new "non-Christmas" project in December is probably not the smartest thing I've ever done, but I like to live dangerously. :)

I was finally able to spend some time on Easy Street. I couldn't resist diving into Bonnie Hunter's new mystery quilt. And judging from the blogs I have read, there are an awful lot of us joining in. In fact, many of you are finished. I'm behind, but what's new? I've only had little patches of time here and there, but I've been chipping away at the clues and have started piecing blocks:

When Bonnie posted the 3rd clue, I was hoping to get to that one by the time she posted the 5th. That did not happen. These colors are a departure for me, but sometimes stepping out of my comfort zone is a good thing. I like the green, but there is a lot of it.

I love Bonnie's design and this version is going to be a new project for me.

DH and I went to town the other day to run errands and I left the house with this pile:

And no, they are not late Christmas gifts. :) I struggle with getting things into the mail. I can get things gathered up and probably locate the perfect box eventually, but getting them actually INTO the mail is hard. Still, I rarely make a trip to town where I do not visit the post office. I keep hearing how they are struggling financially and I wonder how that can be. There is always a line and I am always leaving my money there. However, I do love sending little bits of happiness.

We did get some rain last week and we are thankful for every drop. And yes, .5" is cause for celebration in this parched land:

As ranchers, we are very mindful of the weather and puddles are blog worthy during a drought:

I wonder the very same thing about the post office...I'm constantly spending money there...and yes, there's always a line. YIPPEE!!! Rain, beautiful rain!

Rain - a beautiful thing...we cherish it here, we love it here, we look forward to even sticking our tongues out to try to capture it. LOL

I wonder, too, how the post office can "always" say how suffering they are. I should keep my receipts from going there - nah, that might prove to be harmful to my health. LOL

I am also behind on Easy Street, but I am on the second set of setting triangles, I have them laid out and just have to go back and sew them together. I'm loving the colors, right up my alley, I wear lime and purple a lot! thats what inticed me to join Bonnie, I'm not really a scrappy quilter, but wanted to try one. Her pieceing is brutal!!! You have to be very precise.
I also live on a farm/ranch in Oklahoma. We had 1.1 inches of rain just last week, and we all danced!! Didn't end the drought by any means, but we dance when we have a heavy dew, so thankful for anything we get.

Yay for rain! It is beautiful stuff.
And so are those pretty bits in your Easy Street!

Yea, snow AND rain in the same month - every little bit helps. I still think it was all the snowflakes that you made earlier that prompted the moisture. Keep making them!

I frquent the USPS, too, and I've never been able to just walk up to the window because of a line of patrons.

For the life of me I don't understand why the post office is struggling. It's one of life's mysteries. There's always a line at my PO and I'm usually standing in it. LOL

Loving your Easy Street.

Rain is a very good thing - I find myself craving it. :-)

Every Easy Street I've seen is so pretty. Love the colors you're using. Yes, rain is to be celebrated. So glad you got some and am praying you get more.

I don't like the green either. but I figure I'll give the quilt away any how!
As for the Post office. I live in a suburban area. we have boxes infront of everyone's house. It takes a lof of GAS to drive and stop at each house. We could walk to the end of the block and pick up our mail. Or go into the closest post office (3 mi away) and pick up our mail. It would cut thier costs.

Now I get why you'd be excited about the mud I was talking about today!!

Hope you have a great weekend!

I love your weather reports! I find it really interesting to learn things about the geography of other lands. Half an inch is a big deal in my part of South Australia too. We get about 15 inches a year. But not now! We're having a scorching summer. It was 43 Celsius on Thursday. I think that's like 110f. Our rain season is usually May til September, so late autumn til early spring. I'm always a little behind too. I haven't started easy street, but have printed out patterns thinking I might do them one day!

I need to go back and save the last couple of steps of Easy Street so I can do it later, myself (maybe). So many gorgeous quilts and so little time. LOL! I have a trip to the post office in my near future, too. :)
