1000

I never had a vision when I began this little blog in September 2007. I just wrote because I loved writing and I wanted to document our days. What we did. How we cooked. Where we lived. Who we were. And I never really thought about folks stopping by to visit. But you did. And you do. And thank you for doing so. This dirt road will always welcome you

So I thought I ought to document the fact that I have pretty much talked about this... and that... and not much... for 1000 posts.  😄 I know I'm not a daily blogger. I love it, but it takes time and I can't always make it happen. I often write in my head, but actually getting a post published is a different story. I'm in awe of those of you who do post regularly. I've tried to post a little more lately, but I can already tell it's not going to last. I can't keep up, but I miss writing and connecting with ya'll when life gets busy.

What I share is never newsworthy, or earth shattering, or enlightening. It's just a peek into my simple life. My quiet days. My busy kitchen. My quilting adventures. My passion for this lifestyle. My love for my family (yes, that includes Skeet!). And a profound gratefulness to God every single step of the way

It seems as if blogging is no longer in vogue, but I've never been one to follow the crowd.

Even as a child I took the road less traveled and I'm so glad that I stayed on it because it led me to the end of the dirt road where life is sweet. (photo taken by our girl when we were on a walk a few years ago)

I am glad you are still blogging too! I think of the bloggers I follow as friends along with their pets! So many bloggers have quit and it’s like losing a friend! You may think that what you are writing is boring or ordinary but to those of us who don’t live like you, it’s a peek into a different world! Thanks for your posts! I so enjoy reading them!

Congrats on your 1000th post Karin! I'm so glad you blog, even if it's just here and there :) What a great picture that is!! WOW. And I love the one of you with your chickens. Have a great day.

I always find your blog so fun to read about your life, see your beautiful pictures, relishing your life even though it is filled with much hard work. Your life is so 'foreign' to mine and there are times I don't know how you do it but you do and you genuinely love it! You and your hubby are true partners and you've raised two great kids. Sounds to me like a life well done and worth memorializing here to be able to share with us and revisit yourself when things occasionally slows down a tad. Thank you!

Congratulations on your 1000th post! Whatever the origin of the blog, you have brought encouragement and joy to those who have come to know you! Here's to a 1000 more!

Your posts and photos remind me of this passage:
"The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance." Psalm 16:5,6

Congratulations on your 1000th post. You're doing a great job. I don't blog every day either. I was better at the beginning but I think that's what makes it so interesting. When we miss something for a little while, it makes us appreciate even more when we receive it. Here's to many many more. cheers. ;^)

I enjoy reading of your life, though I may not always comment. I too have noticed that many have given up on blogging, and my own has waned to a near-dead stop.
That's an amazing picture your girl took - God truly paints the most remarkable images!

Karin, I'm so glad you blog!! Love it when I see a post from you pop up. Your frequency is fine, too. Some bloggers think we want to know their every thought and breath.......NOT!! When you write, it's from the heart and so genuine. Here's to many more posts!!! And photos of ranchin' and Skeet!!!

Never quit! Your lifestyle fascinates me. We have cattle here in central Texas too, but it is small potatoes compared to the ranch you live on. And I love your recipes and news about your family.....and I am a quilter too! I am slow and pokey but all quilters love knowing about what others are doing! Carol in Texas

Lots of times, people think history is made up of dates and battles and important people making big decisions. I believe, however, that history is also made up of exactly what you said - how time is spent at your home and in your life. What you do (and don’t do), and the values your family lives by. Yours is a very meaningful life and I so appreciate that you share a part of it with us, your blog readers.

I'm glad you've stuck with it. Yours is one of my favorites -- congratulations on 1000 posts!
I've heard others say that blogs aren't in vogue any more, either, but I think they're doing well enough that I like to keep mine going. Besides, I don't like Facebook, and I don't like to get too long-winded on Instagram, so my blog is my place to give more details about my quilts and quilting, and tell my stories. Even if I'm the only one reading! I'm documenting it . . . Plus, my girls are always calling for a recipe, and this way I can tell them "go check the website"!

What a wonderful achievement, 1000 posts! Many congratulations indeed. It's always great to read about other quilters lives, in my case I live half a world away in New Zealand. But as quilters we connect through our stitching, the occasional recipe, family stories and of course, photos of where we live.

Congratulations on 1000 posts! I am so glad you're still blogging the 'old fashioned' way - I enjoy seeing a glimpse into your ranch life and sewing. Your blog is a much needed happy place for me on the internet. I live in the country but have a physically cushy job (software, and work from home). I do have several cousins that are farmers and ranchers so I have a small inkling of how tough it can be. I am so thankful that there are people like your family and my cousins who have the calling and keep us so well fed! I hope you continue to blog for many more years!
