I documented most of 'This Week' in my previous post here , but it's been a busy week. :)
Our Fall Cow Works begin tomorrow and the crew pulls in today. Our college girl always gets homesick about this time of the year. She loves being a part of the crew and the fact that I brought her horse back to the ranch the other day, doesn't help. This kids loves to ride:
I spent Friday planning my menu and making a very long grocery list. I think there are 50 recipes I'm making on this particular list, and I'll probably be adding to it:
There is also a grocery list and a menu list. yes, I'm a list maker. :)
Y'all all know how much I dislike going to town, but I REALLY dislike going to town on the weekend. Alas, sometimes it simply can not be helped. So in order to avoid the weekend madness, I left at 5 am:
I had to shop at Walmart since our hometown store doesn't open that early, but I can handle it when I'm the only one in there:
$382.27 later:
And I left $180.57 at Sam's:
It's a challenge just finding the space to put it all away. Let's just say that I would be hard pressed to find room for much of anything else:
Then DH and I did something we rarely do - we went to the movies and shared an ice cream:
All of our amazing recent rains, have turned my garden into, well...a REAL garden!
My tomato plants are over 5' tall and I'm picking green peppers every day:
I can water all I want, but until it rains, there isn't ever going to be much of a garden:
The zucchini is finally waking up too. I don't like to let them get this big, but this one was hiding:
And this week, I'll leave you with my favorite way to begin the day: Digging into God's word...on the porch...in the rocking chair...wrapped in a quilt...as the sun comes up.

This Week...
My list has been REALLY long for about 2 weeks so I'm only hitting the high spots here. Didn't think you would need to see 54 items listed. LOL. You're welcome. :)
Discovered a leak behind the bunkhouse. Well, actually UNDER the bunkhouse:
It rained!! We had 3" here and 4.2 on the east end. Still too wet to get to the north end.

The Pecos river going into town was plumb dry. There was one little puddle and then this. Natives say they haven't seen it run like this in 20 years:

Baked DH's favorite cookies to celebrate the rain:

Baked a Pound Cake. I'm fairly certain I have baked about 300 of these in the 24 years I have been making them:
Headed to Texas to pick up a dear friend and enjoyed the glorious morning sky on the way:
Frolicked through a museum with my favorite girl while waiting for the arrival of dear friend:
then through an antique mall and I came home with this:
And after a long delay, and a flight that began in Michigan and was rerouted from Denver to Houston to Amarillo, my dear friend finally arrived, and we took her out to eat Texas style:
Where we were serenaded by a lovely trio of Texas cowboys singing "Hey Goodlookin' ":
After church we ran by the grocery store and the display of green chile caught her eye. Now if I could only figure out how to send it back to Michigan with her, Although I may very well just send the green chile and keep her here!
Adventure to be continued...

*Adventures in shampooing:
*On a mission:

*My sidekick, Sir Sylvester, on his throne:
*Trying another new recipe with a secret ingredient:
*Finally painting over the purple doors in our girl's bedroom. We painted her room years ago with a textured paint. Bad idea... but we never went back for a quart of regular paint to paint the doors which were purple when we moved in.
Working on Honey-Do projects together:
*September in the desert:
*This is a never ending chore:
*Too many choices and I am a bad paint-picker-outer:

There is just a faint hint of fall in the air:

Which is cause for much tail switching around here:

This Week...
It took us about 45 minutes to get there and it was pitch black when we arrived:
All's well, ends well, and after a lot of pulling and sand flinging, we all slept soundly in our beds:
* Had our entire Fall get really busy, really quickly, but it's a really good busy.
* Spent some time with good friends to celebrate a birthday:
*Cheered Carlos Condit on to victory on another UFC fight night. :)
*Tried another new recipe that we really liked. Yes, I'll share it soon. Just not enough time this week. Sorry, I took a bite before I remembered to take a picture. Beef is not very photogenic. :)

*Finished embroidering and quilted the Fishy Baby Quilt...working on binding.

*Started playing with that Jungle-Safari fabric

*Enjoying my early morning trots immensely.
*Washed windows

*Painted a room

*Slept like a baby.

This Week...
He flew a few feet and landed on the sidewalk. I laid an egg down beside him as a reference.

Well, I didn't LAY the egg. I have chickens for that! :)
*I now have a Pinterest hover button on my blog thanks to Karen, over at Sew Many Ways, who posted a great tutorial. I don't get on Pinterest much because its too easy for me to lose track of time, but I really like the format and I like how easy it is to pin things when a button is available.
*Beginning to tie into some much neglected home improvement projects:

* While cleaning out and organizing a few things, I wanted to revert back to childhood and had an overwhelming urge to sit and play:
*Spent a lot of time behind this:
*Cooked dinner for my MIL and FIL:
*Recipe to follow. :)
*Packing these up to send to our Marine:
*Recipe to follow...if I haven't already shared it. I'll go check. :)
*Wish I could find time to bind. :)
*Progress!
*Now will someone please come down here and help me get over my fear of applique?
* Our college girl posted something very wise this week that I wanted to share:
I don't normally rant, and my apologies in advance, but I would like to clear something up right quick. Some folks seem to think that by remaining single, I am determined to deny myself happiness, and/or reap joy from "shooting guys down." I assure you, this is not the case. Last I checked, I was an extraordinarily blessed and happy person, who doesn't hide her heart because she is scared, but rather entrusts it to the One who loves her beyond comprehension. So long as I have the Lord in my life, a good horse in the pasture, my family, and the incredible people I am fortunate enough to call my friends, I see no NEED for a relationship at this point in my life, and you shouldn't feel that I need one either. Additionally... I happen to have a daddy who puts the vast majority of men to shame, so pardon me for being picky, but he set the bar pretty high. If you had any idea how much I love him, you wouldn't for a second doubt my ability to love. My standards are high. I don't find it my duty to lower them to accommodate anyone's ego.
End of rant.
*All honor and glory goes to the Lord for the way this child thinks. She just recently turned 20.
