Next Project

On Tuesday I pulled out this project that's been in a bin for many moons:

The strips of dark fabrics were already cut but I still needed to cut them down into the designated squares so I worked on those. I also pulled some neutrals and got those cut:

Lots of cutting! :

This is where I'm headed:

It's in this book:

I like so many of Carrie Nelson's patterns. I liked a lot of her Schnibbles patterns, but I never made any because I was too busy making big quilts. I made 2 of her Pick and Choose quilts:

And this one (Ginger Belle) is on our bed - I made it bigger than the original pattern so that it would fit our King-sized bed:

This one is another one I want to make:

I'll make it larger too - and this one:

One more:

I want to make this quilt from her Farmhouse Favorites book too:

Yep. I'm a Carrie Nelson Groupie. 😊

I see a LOT of quilting in your future!!! HAHA I did several of her Schnibbles and may have done 1 or 2 of her larger quilts (unsure on that). Good luck with all those..no doubt in my mind you'll whip em all out and probably sooner rather than later.

I love Miss Rosie's patterns. Made me sad when she went to Moda, and no new patterns.

I love Miss Rosie’s patterns especially the Recipe Books at Moda. Your choices are so cool.

I loved that book when you referenced it here before. I went looking for a copy and realized it has been out of print for a while. Most places are charging about $30 and up for a new/used copy. You can download a PDF copy of this book for $9.99 directly from the publisher's website...leisurearts.com.

I too love Miss Rosie patterns....have one I have saved to make over the winter. I really like your Ginger Belle quilt. Working on a Quilt of Valor currently and then when finished it’s definitely time to start the college graduation quilt for a granddaughter.... sneaking up on me. Seeing your fabrics laid out reminds me that for this year I finally want to make a fall quilt. I have the other three seasons and not one for my very favorite season, looking forward to watching this quilt grow. Thanks for sharing with us.

I, too, love everything she does! I have at least one of hers on my wish list!

I was just getting ready to cut some fabric to make this exact quilt. I've always admired it and, I too, have made several Miss Rosie quilts. I can't wait to see yours. Post a block when you get one done. Don't keep us waiting until you finish the whole top!

Looks like your new project has many folds, lol. I understand why you want to make the one you chose first. It's gorgeous! I also love many of the others. I didn't know that Carrie was the one behind Miss Rosie's Quilt. Learning every day. Enjoy! ;^)

Love all the "scrappiness" going on in your quilts!! That Miss Rosie book is one of my favorites, too. Great way to use up scraps!!! Cleaning sewing room like crazy to make working on a few projects easier for a while after I have knee replacement surgery the 17th. I'm in panic mode to "git 'er done"!!!! Thanks for the eye candy and of, course, more quilts to add to my ever growing list!!!

With all those quilts in the line-up to make you're going to be busy for a while. But then I remember you work fast, Karin, so maybe for only a little while. I love the fabrics and colors you've chosen for the quilt you're working on now.
And of Carrie's quilts I really like the 9-patch she calls Drumbeat.

They are all winners! I could tell just by the strips of fabric in the first photo that I was going to like whatever you were making.

I had the pleasure of having lunch with Carrie before she spoke at a guild meeting. That was before she moved from Phoenix to Texas. What a gracious, talented lady,

These are beautiful quilts. Looking forward to seeing your interpretations of them. Jo at Jo’s Country Junction recently wrote about Miss Rosie’s quilts that she’s made and hopes to make.
