The Scrap Box

My 2 - 1/2" scrap box was was getting out of hand and it was high time I whipped it back into shape. Choosing a pattern is often the hardest past for me, but I've had this one on my list for a long time:

This is Color Box by Carla over at Lollyquiltz and I dove into my overflowing box at 3 a.m. on Wednesday morning with gusto.

Lots of mindless chain piecing while listening to an audio book That's about all I'm capable of at 3 a.m, but I sneaked in and out of my sewing room throughout the day:

And the little stitched piles seemed to grow quickly

while the scrap box remained unruly:

And then blocks began to appear:

And I laid a few out for a test run:

And I saw the pile diminish a tad

I've got other projects that are vying for my attention, but I'm making this my leader-ender project and hopefully I'll have an empty box by the end of the summer.

I LOVE mindless chain piecing at 3am. It gets the job done. Throw in a dvd and you've got a party. Happy quilting.

I've started to listen to audio books too while I sew and now, I am addicted. Darn, another addiction! lol. I love your fabrics colours. So vibrant and summer-y. It looks like a beautiful quilt in the making. Enjoy! ;^)

I'm slowly working my way to the bottom of my 2.5" strip and scrap bin. I'm making strip sets and cutting them for four-patches and eventually sixteen-patches.

I listen to audio books or watch old TV series on Netflix while sewing.

I love a lot of color so love your quilt. Nothing like diving into the scrap box for some fun.

I have thought my scraps were not very good but I think I will cut them up and see what I get! Your quilt is charming! You have a wonderful selection there! Have fun! We spent 5 days in Santa Cruz by the ocean visiting with family and a graduation. My GKids are growing up so fast. Take care of yourself.

Love the fact you are sewing while I'm sleeping!! I have lots and lots of 30s fabric and every quilt you do makes me think that would be a great way to use them up!

Oh, there have been many times I have been sewing at that hour, but not so much lately. I can't do that like I used to. : )
That is a very fun pattern and so far your blocks look great!

you have the same idea about using your 2.5: squares for a leader/ender project this year. Check out what I'm doing with mine http://darspatchworkgarden.blogspot.com/2016/05/design-wall-monday.html

Choosing a pattern is one of the hard parts for me, too. This is a bright, fun quilt and an easy pattern that looks great. Perfect stitching for the middle of the night -- just before bed or just after getting up -- whichever end you're on!
